Brushware Program Refresh.
Client: Browns Brushware.
Over a long period of time, Browns Brushware has used design tactically to build a systemised program of new product with carefully differentiated IP. Applying consistent styling and branding along with a razor sharp focus on price sensitivity, they have successfully maintained a retail presence against fierce global competition and commodity pricing.
As a designer I am proud to have contributed towards keeping the last Australasian manufacturer of domestic house brushware not only in production, but actively pursuing export opportunities.
The new press fit swivel handle was made in three sizes; 19mm, 25mm and 28mm to suit these wooden handles. The tool for these handles had a novel self-assembly feature where the cap and handle barrel were moulded separately on the same axis, and then snapped together during the ejection cycle.
Role: Consultant Industrial Designer.
Tasks: All design work up to hand over of 3D CAD files for tool development.
