Single Function Satinjet Shower

In 2007 several products were released by Methven that Shaun worked on before he left.

The first of these was the Kiri Satinjet wall shower.  This was a single function eco-shower with a clean aesthetic, originally designed for use in hotels.

The three most important things that kept guests returning to a hotel were (in this order); the bed, the breakfast bar, and the shower.  Hotel operators wanted to provide the best shower they could that used the least amount of water.  This was good for their environmental image and bottom line.

Research also uncovered that a significant cost for the hotels is the time taken by staff to clean the bathroom after guests have left due to shower overspray getting onto the floor.  This is a particular problem with showers over baths.  Hotel operators also disliked complicated unreliable products.

The solution was to provide a tightly controlled spray cone that still delivered a luxurious shower for the guest with a single function Satinjet shower.  It used ultrasonic welding  in assembly to eliminate seal components and fasteners, which improved reliability and achieved the slimmest profile possible.

Since it was launched the range has proved very popular in domestic applications as well.  The Kiri achieved an Australian Design Award and a Silver Best Design Award.
