The A2-05 OPT / IPT (Outdoor Payment Terminal / Indoor Payment Terminal) is the successor to the Invenco G7 UPC PIN and card reader module. The new A2-05 has been integrated into the GVR FlexPay 6 system. This design took a new technology approach and included a number of customer and end-user focused enhancements:
The design called for a PIN-on-Glass approach to PIN entry. The use of a 5″ touch capacitive screen improved weather tightness and impact resistance, while improving mechanical reliability. The screen also created another big advantage, it allowed customers the ability to create brand specific UI and UX by transferring UI elements to the screen.
The OPT incorporates a magnetic card reader, a secure chip card reader, an EMV contactless reader (that meets the latest EMV 3.0 certification), and also a bar code camera for reading digital coupons on mobile devices. This was all achieved while making the unit smaller than the previous G7 UPC Module, meeting the footprint specifications for vending machines, parking meters and EV chargers.
An Indoor Payment Terminal (IPT) mounting dock was designed to convert the A2-09 into an indoor POS device. This gives convenience store brands the option to have one single cohesive interface UI across their entire site. For brands who want to design and manage their customer experience, this is a unique opportunity. It also massively reduces compliance costs because the site can now have one single L3 security certificate applied across the entire operation. The IPT variant can be countertop or pole mounted.
The design considered the emerging alternative fuel market, particularly the needs of customers delivering Hydrogen. The PIN-on-glass PIN entry system is gas-proof and eliminates button switching that could be hazardous with Hydrogen. The A2-05 has also been future proofed with support for predictive AI enhanced interfaces already designed and built in
